PST spends Rs 190 million on uplift of sports
ISLAMABAD, January 22: Briefing the Board of Governors at Karachi on Monday Pakistan Sports Trust\'s Chairman Lt. Gen. (Retd) Syed Arif Hasan said that since its inception in January 2005, the PST had spent Rs 190 million for the uplift of national sports. This huge expenditure from finances raised by the PST independently was made on giving financial assistance to the national federations, funding or sponsoring events including the National Games 2007, paying for top of the line equipment and grants to the sports persons to pursue their development through training and participation in international competitions. For the uninitiated, the very purpose of establishing Pakistan Sports Trust was to generate funding so that cash-strapped national federations could be given substantive assistance in order to improve their standards.
